Introducing the Legal Nomads Shop

hand-drawn typographic map of vietnam

In the months since my introduction of the new Legal Nomads redesign, many of you have written asking about the hand-drawn typographic maps I commissioned and shared as limited campaigns earlier in the year. While they were only offered as t-shirts during those campaigns, I have been asked quite a few times if they could be sold as posters in addition to clothing.

So, after a bit of a delay I wanted to take a short moment to announce that my shop is finally finished. I spent my last weeks in Saigon building it and I quietly launched it just before the new year. True to your emails, the posters appear to be the most popular. I’m really thrilled that this artwork will find a home on some of your walls.

The shop currently houses the Vietnam and Thailand shirts, as well as posters in black and white with the same beautiful maps drawn by Ella Frances Sanders.

I also have the olive t-shirts (both ‘yay’ and ‘nay’) since I’ve been asked for those as well.

The plan with the maps was initially a 10-country extravaganza, all in the same style. The next will be Mexico, which will be completed a little later in 2015. With two Asian countries as the first maps for sale, I thought the next ought to be a different part of the world, albeit an equally tasty one.

I realize it has taken me quite some time to get this up. I was looking an ecommerce solution that would function while I’m either on or offline, and one that did not involve me stocking inventory. The solution? A Shopify platform run on a subdomain of Legal Nomads, using Printful’s API to fulfill print-on-demand posters and t-shirts as ordered. It’s a wonderful thing that the technology exists to build a store from Saigon for an online business that sends out maps and t-shirts on demand to countries around the world.

A huge thanks to my friend Alfred, who spent two afternoons with me helping me get this set up. Since he’s got a great map shop of his own, I really appreciated the help.

For those who have ordered anything through the shop, I welcome any and all feedback to jodi-at-legalnomads.com. This is my first shop of this kind so I would be happy for your thoughts!

I hope everyone is having a great start to 2015.
